- Congressional Quarterly - Contains lead stories from the Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report, analysis of major issues, members’ votes, and election results. Free access to some databases.
- Federal Budget Information – This is a great website that provides specific information about federal spending; very useful to determine how much funding to request for bills.
- Find a Congressional District or Senate Seat - Provides a great map of states and congressional districts to help you select the character you’ll play in Model Congress.
- GPO Access on the Web - Congressional bills, The Congressional Record Index and the full text of the Congressional Record, the History of Bills, the full text of public laws, the Congressional Directory, House and Senate calendars, and a wide range of other databases are available.
- House of Representatives - Official site of the House of Representatives. See examples of current bills, track legislation, etc.
- How a Bill Becomes Law - A full description of the law making process.
- Library of Congress - View current exhibits and retrieve current news and events. Contains the American Memory which contains historical collections from the “National Digital Library.”
- Political Party Websites - Read about current issues and projects of concern for the major political parties on their respective websites: Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians.
- Public Agenda - Provides background information on a variety of issues that might translate into an idea for a bill.
- Thomas: Congress’s Gateway/Bills and Resolutions - Created to be the central repository of information about Congress. This site contains the Congressional Record, and all bill introduced in Congress. Also available is the voting record of each member of Congress, and other information. All databases are searchable using key words or bill numbers.
- USA.gov – Excellent source of information about federal agencies, Congress, and important policy issues.
- U.S. Senate - Official website of the Senate. See examples of current bills, track legislation, etc.
